MUSIC

CMFD Productions develops, writes, records and produces music. In some cases this is developed as part of a social issue oriented project. In others, we offer high quality recording facilities for African musicians. Our specalty is producing music for social change, that is music that aims to create dialogue and use music to encouarage positive social norms around such issues as women's rights, discrimination, HIV etc.. As with all of our programming, professional high quality music is created through a process that involves the paricipation of the target community in in the creative process.

Music as a communication tool is not a well undertood as a medium. To help better understand the opportunities that music offers to communcators, CMFD is undertaking research into how music has and could be harnessed for social change in Africa.
