ABOUT US

CMFD (Community Media For Development) Productions works with communities, non-profit radio stations and media organisations to strengthen the use of media and communication for development. In addition to producing high quality media/ communication products CMFD provides technical assistance and training, to enable individuals, organisations, journalists, and communities to address issues through media.

Working in countries around the region including South Africa, Mozambique, Angola, Kenya, Zambia,
and Lesotho, CMFD is committed using participatory strategies, facilitatingthis process in a way that participants gain important skills while creating communication that works.

We work in English, Portuguese, and French, however, working in close collaboration with communities, we produce in all languages.

Many of our programmes use high quality entertainment to pass along messaging.



SERVICES

Program Production
CMFD produces educational programming on issues such as rights, health, HIV/AIDS, children, migration, etc. Focusing on radio, this also includes theatre, music, and print.

Project Management
CMFD has a proven record of managing media and communication projects for social development.

Training
All projects include a capacity-building component. CMFD provides training in analog and digital audio production; recording and broadcasting techniques; program development; and participatory strategies.

Recording/ Production
CMFD operates a fully mobile recording studio meaning that we can bring these facilities into communities around the region. These also means that we can participate in conferences and events to records many speakers discuss a variet of topics.

Music
CMFD writes and records high quality music, especially related to our programmes
